Outsourced: Silicon Valley Students in India
AP Award "Best Feature Story", RTNDA Award "Best Video Journalist / Multi-Media Journalist"

Always looking for a unique story to tell, Julie jumped at the chance to chaperone a group of local High School students on an immersion trip to India.

In the age of small news budgets, this was yet another passion piece produced while on “vacation”.  Equipped with her MMJ gear, (minus the tri-pod - long story) Julie shot, edited and produced the two part series.

"Outsourced: Silicon Valley Students in India" examines the connection between the Bay Area and what is now referred to as "Silicon Valley East". It also provides a glimpse into India’s growing wealth gap through the eyes of 25 Silicon Valley teenagers.

From touring Cisco Systems and call centers, to spending time in the slums with street children, the private school students provide a unique perspective of the dichotomy of India.

The series was named "Best Light Feature" by the Associated Press in 2011 and earned Julie the RTNDA Award for best  Video Journalist/Multi-Media Journalist.
