Julie’s primary roles at KCRA were meteorologist and co-host of the highly rated KCRA Weekend Morning Show. Working alongside News Anchor Mike Teselle, the two were known for their entertaining banter.
During the week, Julie covered weather duties for NBC Weather Plus and the Today Show cut-ins. She was also the go-to severe weather reporter. In a weather-centric market like Sacramento, that often translated to wall to wall coverage for hours on end, soaking wet and freezing, with a producer in her ear asking her to “fill” as much time as possible. Julie regularly found herself forecasting from the field with only an anemometer and understanding of the weather pattern to get her through.
When not being pounded by driving rain, Julie was at the mall. She co-hosted the "KCRA Noon Show Live from the Arden Fair Mall". From cooking demos to creepy critters, Julie fielded a variety of interview segments each day surround by a live shopping mall audience. You will find a montage below.
Julie finished her meteorology studies while working at KCRA and earned her seal of approval from the American Meteorological Society. She also won two Emmy Awards while at the station: One for Best Weather Anchor and one for Multi-Media Reporting.
